Meeting Information for Plan Moncure

Our public outreach efforts continue!

The first meeting, on February 21, was an afternoon of rotating resident input sessions at the Moncure Fire Department.  About 75 people attended these sessions.

The second input session was Open House #1, held on March 21st at the Moncure School.  About 125 people attended that listening session.  Written responses to questions received at this meeting were provided at the following meeting and are now posted on the Documents & Work Products page.

The third input opportunity was a Listening Session held on April 27th.  The purpose of that meeting was to gain the benefit of further public input and to give the community an update on the scenario planning process that is now underway.

Our fourth public input session was Open House #2, held on May 24th, at the Moncure School, where the consultants introduced sample scenarios illustrating 4 different potential “futures” for southeast Chatham County, based on the team’s existing conditions analyses presented at the first open house in March and public input received since the project started.

Attendees were able to view and discuss each scenario with the consultant team, including how each tests one or more ideas expressed by community members over the last two months. Conceptual maps depicted the future development pattern associated with the scenarios. Each scenario examines the likely distribution of future homes and commercial uses and the impacts of such growth, including increased needs for infrastructure/services and encroachment on valued open space.

If you were not able to attend the open house on May 24th, we still want your input and are available to answer your questions.

Meeting materials are posted on the Plan Moncure website, by clicking here.

Also, a new survey is open until midnight on June 4th allowing anyone to input their preference related to the alternative scenarios presented.  The survey can be completed by clicking here.

Finally, this Thursday evening, the consultants will hold a follow-up forum online to answer any remaining questions about the sample scenarios and the methodologies and assumptions for each one.   So, please join us Thursday (June 1) from 6-7:00 p.m.  Sign in to the Zoom platform for the forum as follows:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83543682034?pwd=Si9zTDJxb2x6a3BZV1pVMlI0QW9SZz09
